How Do I: Apply for a library card?

To obtain a library card you must reside in DeSoto Parish. To apply, present proof of your DeSoto Parish address, along with a picture ID or school ID.

You must be 14 years of age or older to obtain a library card without a parent or guardian’s signature.

Visit any location in Desoto Parish Library or, if 14 years or older, click here to apply online.

Once you have registered for a library card you may now start checking out books, DVDs, Audiobooks, CDs, magazines and get a free access to our online services.

Remember, you are responsible for any materials checked out on your card. You must bring your card each time you visit the library to check out materials. No exceptions will be made.

If your library card is lost or stolen, please report to the library at once as you will be responsible for any debts incurred. There is a $1.00 fee for the first replacement card; $5.00 for any more replacements.

Borrowing and Renewals

All library books and books on tape have a two-week checkout period. These materials may be renewed up to two times if there is no reserve on a specific title. DVDs have a week checkout period and may be renewed one time. Renewals may be done by phone, online, or at the library.

Fines

Fines are $0.10 per day, per item; $0.50 per day, per DVD. Materials not returned by the due date are considered to be overdue. Patrons with fines totaling over $10.00 are blocked from checking out materials or access to public computers until those fines are paid.

Check Out Limits

Total of 25 items checkout per patron.
