The local library has joined forces with the Louisiana Department of Health to launch a crucial community initiative to provide warmth and comfort to those in need during winter. The Winter Coat and Blanket Drive will run from September 2 to November 8.
Each library branch will serve as a collection point for donations of new or gently used coats and blankets during this period. The Louisiana Department of Health will play a key role key in distributing these items to individuals and families across DeSoto Parish, ensuring that help reaches those who need it most.
Delbert Terry, Library Director, emphasized the significance of the drive: “This initiative addresses a critical need and reinforces the library’s role as a compassionate community hub. Our goal is to bring much-needed warmth and comfort to our neighbors during the winter season.”
Residents are encouraged to contribute by dropping off their donations at any library branch. By participating in this drive, community members can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those facing the challenges of cold weather.
