FAQ

  • How do I get a library card?

Library cards are free to DeSoto Parish residents. If you live outside of DeSoto Parish, you may obtain a non-resident card for $5 a year.

To apply, you must present proof that you live in DeSoto Parish, along with a picture ID. You must be 14 years of age or older to obtain a library card without a parent or guardian’s signature.

Any of the following is an acceptable proof of residency:

    • Driver’s license
    • Utility bill (electric, gas, water, TV, cable)
    • Printed checks
    • Tax receipt
    • Vehicle registration (current)

Remember, you are responsible for any materials checked out on your card. You must bring your card each time you visit the library to check out materials. No exceptions will be made.

If your library card is lost or stolen, please report this information to the library at once as you will be responsible for any debts incurred. There is a $1.00 fee for the first replacement card; $5.00 for additional replacements.
